1.Product Introduction

The function ofbipolar plate (also known as diaphragm) is to provide gas flow channel, prevent the collusion betweenhydrogen and oxygen in the battery gas chamber, and establish a current path between the Cathode and anode in series. On the premise of maintaining a certain mechanical strength and good gas resistance, the thickness of bipolar plate should be as thin as possible to reduce the conduction resistance to current and heat.


We use the graphite material with impregnated resin in order to achieve gas impermeability and high strength. And the material retains the favorable properties of graphite in terms of high electrical conductivity and high thermal conductivity.

 

We can machine the bipolar plates on both sides with flow fields, or machine single side or provide unmachined blank plates as well. All graphite plates could be machined as per your detailed design.

3.Product Feature And Application

A fuel cell uses the chemical energy of hydrogen or other fuels to cleanly and efficiently produce electricity. If hydrogen is the fuel, the only products are electricity, water, and heat.Fuel cells are unique in terms of the variety of their potential applications; they can use a wide range of fuels and feedstocks and can provide power for systems as large as a utility power station and as small as a laptop computer.Bipolar plate is the core accessory of fuel cell.


Bipolar plates are responsible for functions of vital importance to the long-term performance of fuel cells. They play crucial roles in water and gas management, mechanical strength and electrical conductivity. It also significantly contributes to the volume, weight and cost of fuel cell stacks. The properties of bipolar plates are affected by the materials and processes used in the manufacturing of the plates. 

 

4, Product Details

Thebipolar plate adopts dense graphite and is machined into gas channel The Impermeable Graphite Bipolar Plate has stable chemical properties and low contact resistance with MEA.


Bipolar plates are key components of proton exchange membrane fuel cells –they notably distribute fuel gas and air and conduct electricity. Various materials and surface treatments have been developed to improve their properties.



The bipolar plates need proper surface treatment. After nickel plating on the anode side of the bipolar plate, the conductivity is good, and it is not easy to be wetted by the electrolyte, which can avoid the loss of electrolyte. The flexible contact between the electrolyte diaphragm and the bipolar plate outside the effective area of the electrode can effectively prevent the gas from leaking out, which is the so-called "wet seal". In order to reduce the corrosion of molten carbonate on stainless steel at the "wet seal" position, the bipolar plate frame needs to be "aluminized" for protection.

The special tooling locks the four sides of the adhesive plate with a torque wrench of 13N.M, and pressurizes the cooling chamber. The adhesive plate will not be opened and leaked when the air pressure intensity is≥4.5KG(0.45MPA)

Under the condition of pressurizing the cooling chamber with 1KG(0.1MPA) , there is no leakage in the hydrogen chamber, oxygen chamber and outer chamber.
