Gazprom will look for partners in China to sell hydrogen

According to the news published on the website of Gazprom, the company has opened a technical advisory service competition to find Chinese partners in the hydrogen field of Sakhalin island in the Chinese market.

Gazprom will present the winning bidder with the task of analyzing potential low hydrocarbon consumption companies in China's priority regions and their plans to increase hydrogen use in 2026-2030.

In addition, the contractor should develop a series of proposals by Gazprom for Chinese customers that will demonstrate the potential of hydrogen production and supply on the Russian Sakhalin Island. In addition, the contractor will bring the cooperation to the goal of entering into an agreement of intent for the purchase of 12,200 to 36,500 tons of hydrogen per year.

The company expects the consultation to be completed no later than the end of April 2024. In addition, Gazprom plans to receive advisory services in Russia and China.

In September, Gazprom signed a memorandum of intent with H2 Clean Energy and H2 Technologies, a subsidiary of RosatOM, on a low hydrocarbon production project in Russia's Sakhalin region. Production could reach 36,500 tons per year and will increase after 2030. The production company will focus on the domestic market and exports to countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
